Sixteen
students from the UE Association of Students of Library and Information
Science, UP Library and Information Science Students’ Association (UPLISSA),
and UP Future Library and Information Professionals of the Philippines
(UPFLIPP), visited the Thomas Jefferson Information Center (TJIC) on 8 July
2013 to discuss possible library collaborative projects with the TJIC.
Welcome
remarks were given by TJIC Deputy Director Princess Grace Wooden, an
introduction and overview of TJIC’s mission, current and upcoming programs and
services were delivered by TJIC Director Gianina Cabanilla, and an overview of
the eLibraryUSA online resources and American spaces initiatives were briefly
presented by TJIC Librarian Randolf Mariano. Students, faculty advisers, and
the TJIC team brainstormed future library projects and tie-ups within the year.
At the end of the program, the students received information packets including
IIP materials and individual account to access the eLibraryUSA, the State
Department’s electronic research database.
