BOOK TREE OF HOPE, TJIC's Book Donation Drive

The BOOK TREE is a tree of HOPE

It only grows in American Spaces Thomas Jefferson Information Center

It can thrive in cement and without water or fertilizer

The tree represents the tenacity and strength of the Yolanda Survivors

The people survive with the hope that the next day, week, or month, their lives will be better

No matter how badly they are beaten down by the Typhoon, they continue to survive and they will continue to HOPE.

The Thomas Jefferson Information Center hosted the BOOK TREE OF HOPE project, a book donation drive to the Typhoon Yolanda survivors and displaced families held at the "Tent City" (Villamor Airbase Elementary School), Pasay. The project aimed at bringing joy and happiness this Christmas seasonn to the typhoon survivors through books and reading materials. In line with the book donation, Cultural Affairs Officer Kristin Kneedler and Regional English Language Officer Dawn Rogier read messages of hope written by the employees of the U.S. Embassy. The Philippine social workers and the displaced families living in the Tent City thanked the U.S. Embassy for its efforts to establish a book donation drive that boost helping hand and cooperation in times of crisis between the Philippines and the United States of America. #TyphoonYolanda #TJICBookTreeofHope #Damayan #amspacesph
