TJIC celebrates 2013 Global Entrepreneurship Week




In celebration of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, Economic Officer Kathryn Bondy spoke about entrepreneurship and youth empowerment. Moreover, Ms. Charisse Aquino-Tugade, the owner of the The Manila Collectible Co., shared her experiences in educating the youth about Indigenous culture and knowledge as a way to foster social entrepreneurship in the Philippines. One hundred thirty-seven (137) students from different public schools in Metro Manila and Central Luzon participated the event held at the U.S. Embassy Manila.

Happy 29th Anniversary to the American Corner Cagayan de Oro, the longest running American corner in the Philippines dated back November 19, 1984. IE Week at Lyceum of the Philippines University


In line with the celebration of the 2013 International Education Week, The Thomas Jefferson Information Center visits Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) to share about ways to achieve their dream of studying in the United States. U.S. Embassy Consular Officer Izaak Martin discussed the possible ways to apply student visa in the United States while TJIC Deputy Director Princess Grace Wooden talked on the 5 steps to study in the United States. At the end of the lecture, the faculty and students of LPU actively participated at the open forum session.

International Education Week at Timoteo Paez Integrated School


The Thomas Jefferson Information Center Deputy Director Princess Wooden and Reference Librarian Randolf Mariano visit the Timoteo Paez Integrated School to celebrate 2013 International Education Week. The event starts with a discussion on 5 steps in studying in the United States and followed by an Information Literacy and eLibraryUSA lecture.

International Education Week with DEPED Batangas teachers at TJIC


The Thomas Jefferson Information Center conducts an Education USA Information Session with the Department of Education Division of Batangas Teachers from Public Secondary School to support the 2013 International Education Week. The program starts with an education USA session from a PAEF-Fulbright speaker discussion on "Studying in the United States" for a select group of teachers and principals. The program also invites an American Officers from RELO and FAST to discuss personal experiences studying in the USA as well as study visa concerns and using the English Language in a multi-cultural environment. An overview of the eLibrary USA database is also covered in the program, including selected databases for reference in selecting US universities.
